I studied in Coventry, obtaining a 1st in Fine Art 1985. After a year in Spain, I established a studio workshop with my partner Ben in Tower Bridge, London. Over 5 years, we worked for architects, interior designers and restoration firms working on historical and ecclesiastical projects. The work varied from carving wood, modelling clay and casting in plaster and resin.
In 1991 we returned to New Radnor to build a house together and raise a family. Much of my work became designing and sculpting for the giftware market, modelling figurines for Royal Worcester and modelling clay figures and decorative details for historical plasterwork.
More recently, I have worked part time at Jim Budd stained glass studio in Gladestry, helping to draw and paint figures and decoration for stain glass windows, also helping with restoration work, matching pigment and painted surfaces for the repair of ancient church windows.
I relish the challenge of creating a likeness or capturing a moment in clay, working from life and photographs. I have also come to love the process of patination and finishing the surface, whether using acids on bronze, pigments and waxes. I enjoy painting and am showing 2 oil paintings of landscapes here.
Exhibitions: Recently showed in the Society of Portrait Sculptors FACE 2023 exhibition, Chelsea Barracks London, 2023
