Imogen Reid
I K Reid is primarily a self-taught artist. During her earlier careers in advertising and public policy, she pursued both untutored life sessions and figurative training at Morley College, The Slade, and The Art Academy in London. In 2010 she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art Practice at Byam Shaw (Central Saint Martins, London), developing her professional studio practice in London before relocating to Bristol in 2012.
An MSc in environmental science informed the artist’s sensitivity to the environmental impact of her own creative practice. She constructs small scale oil paintings and drawings using traditional techniques and materials, where possible avoiding the use of petrochemicals. Her works navigate the interdependencies of all life. While a chronic neck injury disrupted her professional practice in 2017, the consolation of creative engagement with the natural world is far easier to enjoy now she is living and working in the Radnorshire countryside.
Imogen’s work has been included in group shows, charity auctions, and open exhibitions including The Royal West of England Academy (2016, 2015, 2013), The Discerning Eye (2014), The London Group (2011), and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA). She also takes commissions for portrait and landscapes.
