Bob Rowberry
During the late 1960’s I had travelled extensively in Afghanistan and had bought ancient beads, semi-precious stones and metal dies for pressing silver purely because they seemed so beautiful.
By chance on my return, I was badly injured in a motorbike accident and found myself immobilised for several months. A friend suggested I gave jewellery making a go, something I still love to do to this day.
It was the fine hooks I make from old fence wire that got me into this mess! They got me into the craft area of festivals where it became obvious it was boring for me and the clientele. So how to up the game? Some bean tins were found and made into a bust of a warrior of ancient type, be-whiskered and bejewelled. He became Genghis Can. Good start, much positive feedback, but hard to sell. So I started creating the windmills and kinetic sculpture evolved, small, light and affordable and here we are today.
